Volunteers

House of Hope is staffed completely by volunteers. Not even the directors or team leaders receive payment for services to this ministry.

Opportunities to contribute include sorting perishable foods, distribution of supplies, directing traffic and parking, driving trucks to donation sites, loading and unloading contributions, repairing bicycles, stocking the boutique, registration of clients, chaplaincy, and prayer.

Many of the volunteers worship at First Baptist Church of Merritt Island, Georgianna Methodist Church, and Calvary Chapel of Merritt Island. Others come from a variety of congregations and walks of life.

Volunteers may spend as much or as little time as they desire, from 4:30 am to 2:30 pm on Mondays, and 7:30 am to 2:30 pm on Wednesdays. Opportunities include many different types of work and many levels of physical activity. New volunteers should ask to speak with a director or team leader for a tour and brief orientation to determine the best match for their abilities and needs.

House of Hope qualifies for community service hours.
