Wheels of Hope Bicycle Ministry

The bicycle ministry began several years ago because many House of Hope clients cannot drive or afford a vehicle. They have to rely on public transportation, walking, or catching rides with friends and neighbors.

While praying to meet needs, HoH discovered sources for used bicycles and volunteers who enjoyed repairing bikes. The team leader felt God's calling to memorize four key scriptures for salvation. As a result, numerous souls have been led to Jesus when they received a bike from the ministry.

The motivational scripture for Wheels of Hope is Matthew 25:40, which states that as Christians provide "for the least of these, you do it for Me."

Since 2011, more than 3,000 bicycles have been distributed. Clients are allowed one bicycle a year, and are encouraged to return it when it is no longer needed. All bikes have a numbered House of Hope tag assigned to the client.

The best times to deliver bicycles and supplies to the House of Hope team are 5 am to noon on Mondays, and 9 am to noon on Wednesdays. Devoted volunteers include John, Hank, Henry, Clarence, and Carl.
